Goldthread

Chinese Goldthread (or Huanglian) is a popular herb in traditional Chinese medicine. A member of the buttercup family of flowering plants, Huanglian is found in mountain forests (up to a mile above sea level) and is typically harvested in autumn. The root of the goldthread has been used since the Han Dynasty (200 BC) to prepare potent herbal teas. The actives in goldthread are proto-berberine alkaloids (similar to Barberry below) with antioxidant properties that express strong support of healthy inflammation, and the cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory and nervous system.
